It’s quite paradoxical that we live in a world that can be said to be ‘sin’ itself, yet, have stainless children of God. Is it possible to live in sin (this cosmos) and not sin? Well, the peculiarity of the children of God is such we should discuss because they are indeed totally different from all other persons in the world.
Text: Exodus 5:6-11
There was a time when the children of Israel were captivated in Egypt, under the tyranny of a Pharaoh who would not regard the God of Heaven, and though God sent to him to release the people to serve HIM, he wouldn’t listen. He thought himself to be the sovereign one, don’t you think? The rigidity of Pharaoh was only an opportunity for God to demonstrate His plenteous wonders, and prove Himself ‘God over all’ indeed. Maybe it will be needed to tell you at this point that you’re just a finite being, and the breath you’re breathing through your nostrils was actually given to you. Should you be acting ”the Pharaoh” today, ignoring God’s instructions, and it seems you’re getting away with it because God is saying nothing yet, trust me, you’re not as smart as dodging God forever, when He arises, just like Pharaoh, you will know Him in His act. Pharaoh at some point even questioned who the LORD was, believing no one could dethrone him, he saw no need to even hearken, the pride was only paving his destruction. Help yourself by humbling yourself. The all-seeing eyes of God see it all.
Oh, could it be that Pharaoh was crazy about his god, and built his confidence therein? Peradventure, the reason he was daring God to fight, hoping his idol can stand the so-called ‘God of the Hebrews’. You don’t need to have an experience yourself before knowing there’s no salvation in any other except God, learn from Pharaoh. Are you going to be using dead substances to fight the Living God? In what do you put your hope that you’re having the effrontery to want to wrestle with God?
As said, Pharaoh would have thought that the children of Israel are forever under slavery. But God came for their rescue because they were a peculiar treasure unto Him. He sought to bring them out so they could be under His government and rulership, and He will build them as a kingdom for Himself. That was it! You cannot be peculiar to God except you’ve been delivered by God. At some point, we may have been under the bondage of several things, and the truth is, anyone, born of a woman and passing through this world would need the help of God to not be in alignment with the cosmos of this world. Our peculiarity is and would be that the word of God has and is transforming us to conform to the image of Christ, thus living our lives contrary to the principles of this world. God delivered the children of Israel out of Pharaoh’s hands, and that power still exists to deliver everyone.
Spiritually, Pharaoh is still alive, the devil is still acting, but you must not be under him, serving. No! You can break free from any and everything that has held you bound to earth’s sinking sands. God still gives freedom, and indeed you can be free. The scripture explains it all, it’s His word that delivers and sets free. Do you want to be a son and daughter of God? Seek freedom from darkness and desire the things which are above.
Shalom!
